Bio/CV
Boris Wieczorek
Boris conducted his PhD at the National Centre for Scientific Research from 2020 to 2023. The first half of his doctoral studies took place within the Grenoble Applied Economics Laboratory at the University of Grenoble Alpes in France. For the second half, he moved to the United States, working within the Economics Department of the Eller College and the Interdisciplinary and Global Environmental Studies at the University of Arizona.
Upon completing his PhD, Boris joined the University of Bologna in Italy as a research fellow on the ERC-funded Green Tipping Project from 2023 to October 2025.
His research employed various methodologies, including experimental approaches and modeling, to identify the conditions and mechanisms necessary to overcome social dilemmas. He focused on understanding the role of personal and social preferences within group interactions to promote cooperation and social benefit. He gave a particular attention on the role of social norms and inequalities on decision-making.
After more than five years conducting theoretical and conceptual research to identify the conditions and mechanisms that foster pro-social and pro-environmental behaviors, Boris shifted his focus to international organizations and multilateralism to contribute to the concrete application of policies that improve societies.
In November 2025, he joined the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Budapest as a Junior Professional Officer on Green Jobs, Circular Economy, and Just Transition within the Decent Work Technical Support Team and Country Office for Central and Eastern Europe. In this role, he contributes to the design and implementation of projects, strengthens the ILO’s knowledge base on these topics, and conducts applied policy research and case studies on just transition in the context of climate change, aligned with countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement.
